Once the transition from the yoke to the lace portion is figured out, the rest is plain sailing. The only problem is it seems that I'll very likely run out of yarn. And this is discontinued yarn that I'm using. So extra fast I hooked, trying very hard to beat the yarn and I did. I woke up at half past six on Saturday to crochet this and it did pay off.
I made 9 'rows' of scallops instead of 8 as written but the finished length is a good 6cm short. And I didn't have enough yarn to make the last chain edge but I think it still looks ok without. So I pulled and tug to make it longer. In hindsight, it would definitely be advisable to block it out before assembling the front and back. And now the top hit just above my hipbones, which is just fine to me.
One mistake is the hook size for the lacy part, which I realized too late that it is supposed to be one size up from the yoke, so I just used the same hook through out.
Here you have some hurried photos taken by my residence photographer, almost-9-year-old JY.

SC, that's a lovely piece you have there!

It looks beautiful on you, well done for knitting faster than the yarn too.

I'm glad that you won against the yarn. Fear of running out does make you work faster, doesn't it. The top looks perfect for the disgusting weather.

This is very cute. I love the color of this yarn, it shows the stitch pattern very nicely. Great job! Glad you had enough yarn to finish.

It's a very beautiful top - I'm doing it now too. I've also gotta same problem with you.
May I check with you on the yoke and the lace portion? Is it I got to join both up (yoke and lace) before I can proceed with the lace portion? If I gotta join - how to?
Thanks for the help in advance. =)
