This is the pattern I used to knit the squeaky yarn that a fellow mum at the girls' piano school passed to me for a hat. And the below is the FO, as best as I could make out of the squeaky 100% acrylic mohair. A promise is a promise, I have to make her a hat out of a yarn that she chooses. And I couldn't have knitted faster with it, to get the yarn off my hands. Next time, I'll choose the yarn :O). She's happy with it though, and is knitting a matching garter stitch scarf in the same yarn, this time, she's doing it herself.
BTW, I'm still trying to get use to my new glasses too, I'm in contacts Monday to Friday and usually wear my glasses during weekends. I've got another pair in the same design but black and white.
In order to make my hands forget about the experience of the squeaky acrylic, I had to start something with a yarny yarn. Luckily, the Beaverslide yarn is spot on gauge for Duck Soup. I like the yarn knitted in 16 st to 4 inches than the 18 st that I usually see. The hooded jacket is knitted up quite nicely and although it is warming up in Hong Kong already, I'm hoping it'll come in useful for Sydney in April. We'll be visiting the city during Easter, and any tips for travel, crafty pursuits would be much appreciated.
There are a number of ways to help out the Victorian bush fire victims. Ingrid has highlighted about knitting socks for firefighter while Sue about knitting squares for making blankets. For those time-impaired like me, you might wish to drop by and give Serendipity a hand in raising funds for the Melbourne bush fire. There are nice gifts along the way too
Speaking about Ingrid, she kindly invited some of us knitting pals to her place for a dyeing party yesterday. It was great fun and some wonderful result was had, more to come later.
