With this post, I equal the total number of posts I made in 2008. Last year has been a very busy one work-wise and everything else suffers. This year, I hope to be busy (isn't it better to be busy than out of work) but able to balance all other aspects of life as well. Here's wishing everyone would have work and things to get better from here.

To close the month of January, here's Storm (the good type though) from Kim Hargreaves' Heartfelt collection. I finally finished it on the 2nd day of CNY and wore it to Lam Tsuen. The original Wishing Tree collapsed under the burden of too many wishes that were thrown up the tree. The ambiance there is not quite the same as of old. Nevertheless, it's good trip.

Going back to Storm, there are mistakes in the pattern but nothing too difficult to fix. It took 4.5 balls of Rowan Big Wool using 12mm needles which I bought cheap in Mongkok.

You've seen the black ones, now you'll see the white ones. I promised to give the white granny squares afghan to big niece. She's JY’s best friend and would like everything to be matchy-matchy. Ever since JY has the Granny Square Headboard, she's been asking for one too. As her bed is not constructed to take one of that, I assembled the remaining squares into an afghan for her birthday recently. It was meant for her last year's birthday. Well, better late than never.

As I have already an entry for 28, I'll have to add this one from Cotton & Friend, Summer 2006 issue. Love this wrap dress but can't seem to find the pattern therein.

The Sampler Afghan got lots of use this winter. It's cold inside the house, brr.... I didn't keep a record of the order of the squares when they were knitted, and depending on what sequence you count from this page, the 27th square could be:

Rosebud, Barbara Walker Knitting Treasury Book 1 Page 178, if you count in rows from the top left hand square.

Or it could be the Heraldic Pattern, Barbara Walker Treasury Book 2 Page 150-151, if you count in columns from the top left hand square.

And it could also be the Little Birds, Barbara Walker Treasury Book 1 Page 105, if you count from the last square from the bottom in rows upwards.

Whatever it is, I definitely think we need more knitted (crochet) afghans around the house, it is freezing, even indoors. Brrr....

~: 26 :~ and 26 hours (Happy Chinese New Year!!)

I'd thought this vest would be done in 26 hours or there about since there are so few stitches and not that many rows. Since Flo has no chance to be completed in time for Chinese New Year, I made an about turn and chose something in Big Wool. The pattern is Storm from Kim Hargreaves' Heartfelt. However, I got beaten by the 4 words: "reverse shaping to match ...". In addition, there are some mistakes in the pattern, nothing too difficult to fix though.

I knitted into midnight last night, seamed it up, sewed buttons, hid the ends and realized the buttons were not quite sewn in the proper places to match the button holes so I gave up knitting the back neckband. No time to block too.

No new handknit to wear today but that is no big problem :) CNY last for 15 days anyway and there'll definitely a chance to have a new sweater during this time.

Here's wishing everyone a very fabulous Year of Ox! And yeah to lots more handknits (and crochet too, oh yes and quilts too).

I'm sure some of you have seen these squares many times on this space. I still have no idea what to do with them. Some are assembled to see how they would look together but I hated the joining, will definitely ripped that off. Any ideas? I guess the most likely one is a cushion cover? What, another cushion? I can just hear my JY saying...

We had our reunion dinner last night, have you had yours if you're celebrating? Lai Sees are partly done, still some packing up to do. After all these, will try to finish knitting a New Year sweater for tomorrow... No it's not Flo... I'm very close to the finishing line. Let's see.
