I've been lamenting to myself my lack of a tote to carry around on the weekends, going with the girls here and there abouts. If I look hard enough around the house, I'm sure to find one but a girl can't have too many a bag. So out came the yellow elephant fabric that Joy gave me from her last trip to Japan.
First off, a tote in the simplest form. The perfect carry-all for the weekends. Inside pockets would be very helpful so I sewed a whole row of it. But then I forgot the magnetic snap, so this tote is without one.
Then the idea of a fold-over bag for CY came about and so one is made but of course I forgot something else, and that is the button loop.
And I thought to myself, bah, it's not important, and of course the bag stare back at me and asked for one. So the notions box was opened and the black leather strip got chosen to do the job of fastening the bag while the precious red chicken ribbon does the perfect job of hiding the leather strip ends.
JY definitely needs a yellow bag of her own too and she drew me a sketch of what hers should look like. And I had to think a bit how to do it.
It should hold her sketch book and should have to have the slots for her colour pencils.
I made it messenger bag style with a flap to cover the colour pencils.
Since CY's bag has the red ribbon, so must JY's. I thought it clever of me to put it off centre and when my sil saw it, she remarked that it looks kinda like Prada and now I'm feeling a bit phoney. Oh well. I think it must be in my sub-consciousness. Anyway, JY loves it and brings it everywhere with her.
The best part is, everything is from stash!

I totally love this!!! The chick ribbon accent all the way to the slot for all those pencils!! Ingenious! Especially the part that you had it from your stash, kinda makes it free (for the most part).

I think the drawing tote is genius - everyone always makes these as pencil rolls and you're stuck taking two pieces - I love the all-in-one - genius! I also wanted to write to say I wish (!!!) you had an Etsy shop so I could get my hands on all your cool accessories. If you do open one, please let me know - I'll buy everything!
Also, I just posted about you on my blog:
http://gussiedup.squarespace.com - I used a couple snaps from your site, but everything links right back here. Thanks for being a great inspiration!
