Good mail days

Husband's stripey scarf is now diligently being knitted on, hopefully it'll get done in time to keep him warm on his work trips to Beijing this fall and winter. In terms of interestingness, the scarf WIP photo is nothing compared to what I've been receiving in the mail recently.

Swap magazines from Olga and her some of her knitting notes.

Mags

Olga sent me this book too which I've been trying to get on eBay.

Book

And Amy Butler fabrics. I'm thinking of making some quick quilts, one each for my girls.

Fabric

And Nature Palette sock yarn.

And Olga continues to pamper me with Habu goodness. I'll be having my own Kushu Kushu scarf. Stainless steel and merino, divine.

Habu

A complete surprise from reader, Bonney, who sent me these lovely fabrics. Thanks a lot Bonney!

Bonnie

I've got some other non-mail goodies too. My husband spent quite a bit of trouble to get this piece of handwoven fabric in Beijing.

China

And goodies from Joy, a Phildar knitting magazine and some Liberty fabric remnants that are so big I could make pillow cases for my girls.

Two bags full

I've promised my 2 girls new bags for quite a while. And here they are. Heather Ross polka dotty one plus yellow for JY.

Dottybag

A sheepy badge for decoration.

Sheepy

White vintage buttons.

This one in fishy fabric is for CY. She chose this fabric herself when we went to Shamshuipo, HK's fabric district, together.

Fishybag

As I have only one sheepy badge, we went to the department store and found this Kerokerokeropi name tag. Now froggy and fishies are friends.

Froggy

Plus vermillion buttons. As always, I'm having problem with the iron-on interfacing. Look at the lumpy surface.

WIP parade

Thanks for sharing your granny squares headboard love! Uncumstomarily, there just isn't time for me to reply to you individually but I really appreciate all your wonderful comments. Thanks again!

The days and nights are getting shorter and shorter for me. There's knitting and sewing here and there, and I can't wait to start more new projects. But first, I just need to take stock of what's on the needles.

Let's start with those on the sidebar.

Granny Squares Afghan – Yes, there is still going to be a granny square afghan, I'm going to give it to niece. 2 stacks of squares, 30 in total all ready to be seamed.

Grannysquares

Short n Sweet – The love for this project seems to have sizzled. Somehow, the yarn and pattern doesn't seem to match afterall so I'm really glad when Joy is willing to take all the denim yarn off my hand.

Shortsweet

Phildar Stripey Cardigan – Hey, I still like this. Hope to finish this someday but not now.

Phildar

Conwy Sock – This is having my attention. In fact, this photo is already outdated, I'm onto the foot of the second sock right now. Hope to finish this pair in time for the cold weather to be sent to Olga.

Conwy

Brambling from Rowan Little Knits – And this smart little cardigan too, for JY.

Brambling

Red crocheted coasters - Made in the spirit of the previous Project Spectrum. Finally took some photos.

Glasscoasters

Then there're some classified as 'Long term Projects', like the Fairisle scarf, which would be worked on someday, and the Stripey project, more on this in another post. With leftover yarn from the granny squares, I started another Long term project, some mitred squares, which are really addictive.

Miters

What about those hidden project not on the sidebar? I forgot to list Husband's Stripey Scarf. It got knitted on last weekend when we went to China for a short holiday.

Then there's a failed Tweedy Aran Cardigan. I'm contemplating to use the Beaverslide yarn to knit either Tilted Duster from the new IK cover or an older Phildar blazer. There's also a failed Orangina in a pale pink ribbon, to be reknitted into something else which I can't make up my mind on right now. I courageously started something brand new too, a 2-coloured intarsia project from an ancient Rowan magazine. Just 1 inch up so no interesting photo yet.

Oh, and I haven't shown the whole string of sewing WIPs yet. I'll try to see if I could upgrade them to FO status soon. My sewing machine is making very loud noises again. I think it needs some oil, a new bobbin case and new needles.

Thinking that the above is not such a long list, I of course went ahead and bought some new yarn and new books bought for the coming Fall. Give me more time and I'll post them here for you all. Meanwhile, have a great new week!
