Stashing for winter

JosharpThe urge to stash is great these days. I guess I need to de-stress and forget about all those bugs which are now in me. Ordered some super soft Jo Sharp Silkroad DK Tweed in colour Cedar from Get Knitted at a great price. What better time to buy from the UK than now with the sterling pound at 4 months low. I brought home a ball to swatch and I'm hoping to see if I could use this for the Tweedy Cardigan instead of the Beaverslide yarn which is lovely but the knitted fabric is just too stiff and my hands hurt knitting at such a tight gauge.

Noro88And some Noro Silk Garden #88 in beige, browns, green and a hint of mauve to knit the Scoop Neck Cardigan in Debbie Bliss Book 1 after seeing Vanessa's beautiful FO (scroll down to 20 October post). I even found a matching camisole to wear under it. I so want to start knitting with it, the yarn keeps calling to me and distracting me from the Frilly Jacket and Picovoli but I'm telling myself to focus, FOCUS. Plus I have some undercover gift knitting to do. It's not helping that my colleague, Terry, has already started hers in the gorgeous #86 colourway and making very good progress. And by the way, she finished her Klaralund in #88 in 4 days flat.

WollenThe other day, I walked passed the wholesale fabric stores at Prince Edward after getting Ji Yuan's winter uniforms and saw some bins outside them. Not one to miss a good bargain, I rummaged through the bins and found some cottons, these wool remnants, about half yard each that I might make into softies from the Denyse Schmidt's book or some wintery bags. The solid orange one is about 1 yard and I thought I might use it as a backing for an orangey, quilty, lapghan or blanket for the little one. It'll go well with the orange Kaffe Fassett fat quarters I got earlier. And when the ladies at the shop told me it is cashmere (or has cashmere in it), I nearly want to grab and run. I'm not fabric savvy enough to tell how much cashmere content it has but it's soft and luscious although a bit dirty. It really can't beat the price of USD1.30 for the yard and the dirt came off easily after a wash. All I need to overcome now is the fear of using the rotary cutter for cutting the pieces for the quilt top.

Wait, found at Mollychicken, this site selling Japanese fabrics. The lure of getting more beautiful fabrics is just too great and only one click away.

Perhaps you are just stashing for the winter. Instead of nuts and good, yarn and fabric are needed to line the nest... :)

The Noro is in very soft pretty colours. It is very difficult to resist beautiful yarn and fabric especially if they're at a good price :)

Lovely bit of stashing there, the wool material looks very inviting this time of the year... look forward to seeing what you make!

Beautiful stash, that Jo Sharp yarn looks very interesting. I like the Silk Garden colourway too, so pretty!

Hey, I could do a Klaralund in four days, for a doll. ;) It must be inspiring to have a fast knitter near you to push you on! :D
That Jo Sharp yarn looks good; it'd be so nice for the tweedy aran cardi.

I just love all your new stash. Too bad over here, the weather doesnt permits us to knit winter stuff.

Stashing for winter, I like that! I love the Noro. I missed a big Noro sale. I haven't gotten over it yet.
