Debut of Frilly Jacket WIP
Just realized that I haven't really posted about the Frilly Jacket wip. I'm at the home stretch, with only part of the fronts and the collar left to knit. The GGH Davos yarn can be considered a yarny yarn, lovely to knit with, and nothing beats knitting cables in cream, it's just so cable-y. It is meant for my elder daughter but it seems to be turning out a bit on the small side, more cardigan size than jacket size.
Do you think it would work if I pad the jacket with this fabric and one layer of thin cotton batting to make it warmer and more wind-resistant like a jacket should be?

I love cables in white too. You're so creative to think of padding and lining the jacket. I have an old cardigan that is lined and it is warm and soft (ie not scratchy).

The jacket is beautiful. I have never lined a knitted garment however, look at your suit jackets to see how they allow enough extra fabric at the hem and at the end of the sleeves for movement. There is ususally a small fold so the lining doesn't hang below the hems. Love the cables!

That looks great! I've never added a full lining to a knitted garment before. But if you add it, won't it make the jacket feel even smaller?

Lining it will definitely add to the warmth. I have the same question as Angela, wouldn't the lining make it smaller? Maybe there's enough ease to accomodate it though.

Lovely, yummy, creamy cables!!! Mmm... Davos sounds like something I would enjoy too. Not sure about the cotton batting, are you gonna handstitch it on?

It's a great idea to add a lining. it's going to be really comfy and warm. And with all your sewing skills...I had wished to do one since i saw an article in Keitodama but I got no sewing skills.

I think your white one turn out looks better than my blue one ! I guess it is not easy to add a cotton batting. Remember to take some photos during the process, I want to see how to make it.

What an adorable thing that will be with the lining! I know you can do it and make it turn out adorable -- you've proven that again and again.

Great idea, :) but do check if there will be enough space with the cotton batting or it will become too small. Alternatively.. some thinner thermal lining? BTW, love ur bags!

I can't help you with the lining, but it is beautiful!

wow, it's lovely! what about a fleece lining? that might be easier...though i wonder the same as some others -- will a lining make it even smaller?
anyway, it's beautiful!

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog! I’ve been reading your blog too, so it seems that we’ve both been reading each other’s blogs without us knowing it. :)

hmmm .... lining it would make it smaller. how about just let it be a cardigan? the nice thing about cardigans is you can unzip/button if you get too warm, and layers are nice. if you line, consider using some hi-tech fabric. there are lots of fabric sources on the web for something hi-tech that can be very thin/breathable/windresistant.
