Bags, bags, bags – bag #10

My heartfelt thanks for your get-well wishes for my daughter. She's now well enough to go to school, and what we need to do now is to help her get her body back in shape and try not to get sick again so soon.

Grannybag

I haven't touched my sewing machine since the backtack bag was done. Talking of which, I have a small piece of the backtack fabric left, so I sewed this small purse using the granny bag pattern from this Japanese book. The light blue leather handles pick up the blue from the polka dots nicely. And I sewed on the handles using transparent fishing line that I bought from a beading shop. The shape is actually very simple and it has a single pleat at the top centre which is obscured in this photo by the knitted rose which is removable. The rose pattern is taken from the current Holiday issue of Vogue Knitting. It's designed by Nicky Epstein for a cushion which you can see a photo here. Off this bag will go to a knitting friend. I still have a tiny piece of fabric left after making this bag which I'll keep it as a memento for the backtack exchange. Maybe it'll become part of a scrap quit.

Bluefloral

There're still a couple of bags I want to make for gifts. Here's another in the making, an all blue floral bucket tote. In other bag news, Eva gave me a Felissimo bag kit that she ordered from Japan. Really exciting to have a real Japanese bag kit with all the materials, notions and pattern. I'm looking forward to making it.

There's knitting but not much. Started my stripey Picovoli. The picot edge is really floppy and seems to turn outwards quite badly and it seems a bit too small. I keep thinking 'negative ease' and chose the smallest size to knit. Let's see. Frilly jacket is now my current bus project. Talking about the bus, a lady on the bus asked me yesterday about sock knitting and I gave her a basic pattern that I print from the Internet to start off. She's going to try and let me know when she encounters a problem.

The preview for the latest Interweave is out. Brilliant Retro looks like a very wearable cardigan to me and I love the Pearl Buck Swing Jacket just for the name and her book, wonder what the front looks like. The pair of Koigu socks look good too. Just that my subscription ran out. Bah.

I love the Brilliant Retro too - and if my boobies were a bit perkier I'd do the bandeau.

The interweave preview does look like a solid one. I like the aran pullover a lot, and the socks do look nice.

Cute bag!

That's a really pretty bag! I really like the Ribbed Diamonds from IK, would have liked to knit that for my husband but we live in a hot country so there's no point.

that is such a cute bag! Memento, indeed.

That bag is making me DROOL!!! Love it!

The bag is really pretty, love the blue handles. I like the socks in the new Interweave too. It looks like the lace leaf pattern.

That bag is amazing!

That bag is so cute!! I love it.

It is indeed a lovely bag. I wish I could sew like you.

wow!!! back no. 10 already?? that is really really fast!!

So cute! I love all your bags!

Your bags are getting better with each one!
So neat someone on the bus asked you about knitting.

How did you attach the handles? Machine stitch with a Jeans needle? Inquiring minds want to know just how difficult it was to execute.

You have such a refined touch with respect to the selction of materials.

You are churning bags out like magic I swear! LOL And they are all so lovely..:) Glad your girl recovered fast.

Long time no write... I like the Pearl Buck Cardi too (also because of the book and name), but I wish I could see what the front looks like as well. Cute bag! As for the previous entry, I will check out the books at Kinokuniya here and see if I can find that book! (Could always use a reason to go to Kinokuniya!)

Great bag and I love the blue rose you added in. I just tried a couple roses from Nicky Epstein's book and this one in Vogue mag. is a great pattern.
