I have every intention of finishing Whisper within this week before we all leave for Singapore next Monday but I just don't have enough energy to do it. All I can say is I'm glad this work week has come to an end. The collar works, it's sewn and I have one more sleeve to knit and the finishing to do. Looks like I might not have time to stashbust this month as I'm going to allocate the rest of the month to finish Whisper, sew my backtack bag(s) and knit socks!
I've joined Lolly's Socktoberfest. The yarns you've seen earlier, the new sock books, Charlene Schurch's Sensational Knitted Socks and Nancy Bush's Knitting Vintage Socks arrived this week. I love both of them and there are already a couple of socks in both books that I would love to attempt. Socks definitely would be perfect for travel knitting next week.
The sock books arrived together with the Denyse Schmidt Quilts which is simply fantastic. So clear are the instructions even for a beginner like me and the photos are very good, the book is full of inspirations.
We didn't make it to the Shamshuipo fabric trip as planned last Saturday and Vivian on hearing my plight of lacking suitable fabric for my backtack buddy offered me some of hers in the preferred colourway. So we met up at Western Market and I couldn't help it and bought more fabrics. On the way out, I spotted a brown cotton fabric with polka dots of various shades of blue and brown woven on it and it was one of those 'I must have it' moment. It would go very well with these blue leather handles, and I thought would be perfect for my backtack pal. After all the excitement settled down, it struck me that the fabric might be too mature for her (I think she's still in college), and she might like something younger looking. Otherwise, I'll use the other stripey fabric in the same colour tone or the other recent addition to my fabric stash. Thing is, I just can't make up my mind on the pattern and fabric and I feel a little under pressure because she's so creative and sews very well. I change my mind at least 3 times a day what to make for her. Guess I just have to get my act together as the deadline is looming.
So off we go to Singapore, see you in a week's time!
I love this unique collar on whisper! I am looking forward to see this FO. Oh! I miss Singapore, wish you have a great trip!

I agree with Mimi, that's such a soft drapey collar, almost like a cloud. As for the fabric, I hope you'll go for the polka dots, the blue handle will make it edgy and young! Have a good trip back.

The ruffles on Whisper are quite interesting. I think it'll be very pretty when it's all finished. The color is quite appropriate, too.
