An experiment – Bag #3
These are some of the fabric scraps that came among other lovely things from Mrs. Pilkington. And I did a little experiment.
I sorted out and grouped the scraps and played 'fabric puzzle' with my girls, we assembled some medium to heavy upholstery fabric scraps into two rectangles and I sewed the pieces together. They are here pre-trimmed.
Then I assembled the two rectangles together by adding sides, lining, straps and a magnetic snap and viola, a tote. And I like it.
The straps are made of canvas belt with the middle portion sewed togehter. I should have made the straps shorter though. The inside looks like this.
No, I didn't design it. It was inspired by this vibrantly coloured bag. Here's the back view.
Most of you might have already read about these but I thought I'll just help to spread the word. Buy or sell something at Crafters United, proceeds will go to the Katrina relief. And here's Margene and Susan's Give a Little. Mother nature has no mercy no matter where you reside, and there's a Chinese saying that people on the giving end should feel fortunate to have this priviledge of doing so.

Now that's a handy bag and fun for the girls too making the puzzles. Nice size for a few balls of yarn too!

I'd say that experiment was a success! Great activity to do with the children as well.

That's such a creative use of fabric scraps and a good idea to sew the the handle in the middle. Lovely bag, sophisticated enough to tote knitting to work!

Very nice bag there. I love the colors and the combination of different fabrics. You are such a talented crafter. The recycled jeans bag are such a great idea. I have many pair of jeans sitting in the closet collecting dust. Thanks for always sharing great idea!
