It's a pair

First, some more information on the Nami Nami for those of you interested. I wore it twice last week, once with straps and once without and it feels comfortable on both occasions. Surprising, there isn't the slip-sliding feeling that most strapless gives me. That's because of the 'grids' on the wrong side that grip the skin. The material is kind of funny, a bit rubbery but not stuffy. From the Nami Nami site, if you click on the HTML version and 'catalog', you can see what the plain version looks like. Click the 'next' on the top right hand corner and you can see the various version of the garment. Here's the fastening which you can't see from the site. Neat, isn't it? Another thing, which is more controversial, is the padding. It's removable though, there's a slot inside the cup for people without enough 'substance', like me.

Now that the euphoria of all the shopping died down and my material needs satiated, I went back and knitted with a vengeance. When others knit with a vengeance, they finish a sweater but I, all I finish is the other baby sock and some more of my mother's stole. I released all my pent up knitterly passion on the tiny sock, so much so that I overshot the foot. I told my husband who consoled me and said that most people are not born with a pair of identically sized feet, you know. Yes, I know, my right foot is bigger than my left but they don't differ by over an inch. Should have taken a photo of the pair of long and short footed socks but night light is crappy. So all you get is this nicer daylight shot of the repaired pair.

Pattern: Better than Booties Socks (pdf), Cable Ribs from IK
Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock, Ravenswood
Needles: Clover 1 (2.4mm)

A note on the heel. I gave the PGR short-row heel another try but still couldn't get it without unsightly holes, so I ripped and use the Ozyarn no-wrap short-row heel instead, which is so much easier and neater. It's a pity the link is no longer there on the web.

I cast on the Tweedy Aran Cardigan with the Beaverslide wool (not in the photo). Although there are only two rows of K1, P1 ribbing, I still went ahead and used the tubular cast on, long-winded method, which gave a sturdier, more elastic edge. The long-winded way involves crochet provisional cast on and then there's another short-winded way, which is similar to long-tail cast on but produces an edging that is not quite as elastic.

I'm sorry to hear that Ozyarns is gone. I had already saved that sock pattern however, because it seemed like such a nifty idea and I wanted to try it at some point.

Your little tiny socks are cute as can be!

I bet your husband would be puzzled how women can talk about things like Nami Nami on the internet! Would he read your blog?

I would be encouraged with your husband's advice and hopefully find a baby with a pair of feet that would fit in the socks! haha.. You know, I always find excuses for my knitting mistakes...

The little socks are so cute and nice.

Cute little socks! Thanks for the info on the Nami Nami.

The yarn for your aran is very pretty and the socks are the cutest! I saw socks on so many blogs today, that I'm getting a bad itch to knit socks. Hmm, that Nami Nami is getting more intriguing. It really looks different. Really enjoyed reading your post today.

U r making curious about the Nami Nami. Guess I'll be hunting it down soon to have a look. I've never been able to find one I'm satisfied with.

Cute socks. Yes, it's a shame about OzYarn. I heard too late. There was nothing left I could buy. Cute socks too! Love the color of ur Tweedy Aran Cardigan, very interesting.

if you have the url of the ozyarn sock pattern, you could try the 'wayback machine', or internet archive.
i've re-found other things that have disappeared from the web with it.

Those socks are just too cute!!

How are you liking that Beaverslide yarn? It looks beautiful, and I might just have to buy some! :D

Is that the same Tweedy Aran Cardi that I made? If it is, you will love the fit! The Beaverslide is great yarn!
